Artist Statement

We are the Vela sisters.

Artist, Amanda Vela-Charbonneau (right), and Manager, Sam Vela (left). We create and offer original art and the highest-quality limited edition prints on metal and paper, as well as handmade, reclaimed barn wood frames.

Amanda’s original digital paintings are created by drawing on a tablet screen with a pressure-sensitive stylus in procreate, a program where she customizes the brush tools, mainly airbrush, pen, dry brush, and blending tools in order to illustrate with them and present a unique and expressive style. Her vision is to create work that will uplift people, and bring them a sense of joy. She was awarded 1st place for digital arts at the castle rock art festival in 2023.

She also creates work with traditional media including color pencil, acrylic and oil painting, as well as mixed media pieces. All emphasizing the vibrancy of life, the subtle vibrant colors and profound, divine intricacies that make up the world all around us.

Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Outdoor Arts where she interned in 2016, as well as in various local and national juried art festivals, and gallery shows. Amanda spent 2020-2021 working and volunteering in mental health and partial-hospitalization facilities during the height of the covid pandemic helping those in detox and substance abuse-treatment programs, and leading creative expression groups for patients to experience the benefits of making art and creative self-expression on mental health.

Our limited edition metal prints use UV-resistant ink and chromoluxe aluminum, they are the longest lasting print technology on the market. The archival pigment printing process, referred to as gicleé, is an advanced form of inkjet printing, which utilizes a large color gamut of highly pigmented archival inks, which in conjunction with being printed onto archival media, results in a high quality digital print that will stand the test of time.

Our metallic/pearlescent papers feature a glossy finish and a metallic appearance that creates images with exceptional visual interest, depth, and a unique iridescence. Using Silver Halide technology, these prints are the most vibrant and longest lasting available.

What we want people to know about our business is that our heart is family. These artworks are pieces of the love and joy we have, that we want to share with the world. We want to bring beauty into every home, as well as provide for our homeless neighbors, through the sales of our art. 10% of our sales go directly to this effort.

Each piece is also a seed sown in our greater vision to open a farm-table cafe and art gallery on our very own ranch where we would offer you a culinary experience you would never forget surrounded by a rotating collection of beautiful art. Where we would share our family’s recipes with you, as well as our passion for hospitality; Where every meal would make you feel like family, and most delightedly would provide a meal for someone in need through a 1-for-1 (“buy-one-give-one”) social entrepreneurship business model.
